Title: Explicit Symmetric Low-Regularity Integrator for the Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation

Time: Thursday, June 18, 2026, 13:00
Venue: D Shi 209, East Coast Campus

Invited by: Dr. Yi Qian

Abstract:
Numerical approximation of low-regularity solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) is notoriously difficult, especially when structure-preserving schemes are sought. While recent work has produced symmetric low-regularity integrators for NLSE, all prior algorithms are fully implicit, requiring the solution of a nonlinear equation at each time step. This talk introduces the first fully explicit (multi-step) symmetric low-regularity integrators for NLSE, demonstrating a class of schemes that can symmetrise existing low-regularity integrators in explicit form. Rigorous convergence analysis and numerical examples show favorable structure preservation and significant computational cost reduction over implicit methods.

Speaker Profile:
Prof. Feng Yue earned his B.S. and M.S. from Zhejiang University (2014, 2017) and his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore (2020). He conducted postdoctoral research at NUS and Sorbonne Université before joining Xi’an Jiaotong University in December 2023. His research focuses on numerical methods for dispersive PDEs, particularly algorithm design and error estimation for long-time dynamics and highly oscillatory problems. He has published in journals including SIAM J. Numer. Anal., Math. Comp., and Numer. Math.

All faculty and students are welcome to attend.
