Journlism School's Cyber Psychology Course Pioneers 'AI+PAD' Teaching Model
Innovation
The Cheung Kong School of Journalism and Communication’s Cyber Psychology course has developed an “AI+PAD” integrated teaching model, embedding AI into each phase of the PAD framework over three semesters with 215+ students.
Three Key Applications
Presentation Phase — The instructor uploads personal teaching materials (courseware,教案, transcripts) to Tencent’s ima platform, building a “teacher.skill” AI agent via RAG for lecture content generation, learning diagnostics, and contextual teaching — a digital teaching twin.
Assimilation Phase — Students complete Big Five personality tests and map results onto AI to observe how their AI-simulated “self” behaves in cyber psychology scenarios, gaining an “other’s perspective.” A cross-disciplinary AI companion built on a curated knowledge base supports deeper learning.
Discussion Phase — A four-step process: “AI answers first → students critique → iterate → report,” training students to challenge and improve AI outputs, transforming AI into a “thinking opponent.”
Results
Teaching evaluation scores reached 99.07 and 99.39 (out of 100). The model is being extended to other courses including Network Communication and New Media Data Analysis.
