Zhixing College Recruits Dormitory Guides for 2026-2027 Academic Year

Shantou University’s Zhixing College, in collaboration with the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, has launched recruitment for dormitory guides for the 2026-2027 academic year. The program is open to all students from both the college and the school. It aims to harness the peer mentoring power of senior students, promote self-governance within residential buildings, and support the service-oriented education mission.

Target Applicants

All students enrolled in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Zhixing College.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Character and Values: Firm political conviction, patriotism, good moral character, strong sense of responsibility, dedication, and service spirit, along with excellent organizational, coordination, and communication skills. Applicants should serve as positive role models for fellow students.
  • Availability: Commitment to the educational philosophy of Zhixing College, sufficient discretionary time to fulfill guide duties throughout the academic year, and willingness to cooperate with college and school arrangements. Applicants must return to campus three days before the enrollment of the Class of 2026 freshmen and participate fully in all orientation activities.
  • Academic Performance: A satisfactory GPA ranking in the top 50% of the previous academic year, with no failing grades. Students who hold student leadership positions and perform excellently may receive relaxed academic requirements.
  • Teamwork: Strong collaborative spirit, readiness to follow unified scheduling by the college and school, and cooperation in completing ad hoc tasks.

Under equal conditions, priority will be given to student Party members, applicant Party members, leaders of student organizations at various levels, former dormitory guides, and students with sustained involvement in university or college volunteer service.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively reach out to incoming freshmen before registration day, answering their questions;
  • Assist with document distribution, room assignment guidance, and other freshman reception duties during enrollment and orientation;
  • Support freshmen in adapting to campus life by organizing group activities in the early weeks of the semester;
  • Participate in routine college affairs management, dormitory civilization building, and the planning of college cultural events.

Application Procedure

Interested students should complete the application questionnaire before July 26 and join the dormitory guide consultation WeChat group. Further announcements will be made through the group.

Management and Evaluation

  • The term of a dormitory guide is one academic year.
  • Guides who fail to meet the basic criteria, do not serve as a positive example, or neglect their duties causing adverse effects may be dismissed by the college.
  • Upon completion of the term, guides will undergo an evaluation based on their performance against the job responsibilities. Outstanding guides will be recommended by Zhixing College to the university for recognition as Outstanding Dormitory Guide.
