In response to the call from the Guangdong Provincial Committee to advance the construction of the “Hundreds, Thousands, and Ten Thousands Project,” Shantou University’s School of Engineering and Jingyi College, together with the Huishaizhen Assistance Work Team of Guangwu Holding Group, are organizing the “Science Illuminates Southern Guangdong, Children Paint Qiaoxiang” summer social practice activity.

Hosted by the “Kewei Qingfeng” practice team from the School of Engineering at Shantou University, the event is scheduled to take place from July 20 to 22, 2026, at Xingzhi Primary School in Nanyang Village, Huishaizhen, Jiexi County, Jieyang City. The participants will be students from Xingzhi Primary School.

Activity Content

The program integrates two complementary themes – “science enlightenment” and “cultural nurturing” – through diverse formats including science experiments, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and outdoor team-building activities. By combining engineering strengths with the cultural heritage of the Qiaoxiang (overseas Chinese homeland) region, the activity aims to broaden the horizons of rural youth, inspire scientific thinking, cultivate attachment to their homeland, strengthen cultural confidence, and achieve synergy between technology-enabled rural education and cultural preservation.
