It is reported that the Shantou University Student Affairs Office has launched applications for the 2026 Shantou University Residential College (Community) Construction Projects (Donghai’an Campus special program), inviting projects from the four residential colleges - Shanhai, Mingde, Gezhi, and Xingchuan - to further advance the campus’s residential college education bases and future learning centers.

The application drive aims to implement the university’s plan to deepen residential college reform, improve the dual-college collaborative education mechanism, and meet “one-stop” student community construction requirements. As the first phase of construction, the projects will draw on the actual conditions of the Donghai’an Campus, make full use of shared physical spaces such as the residential colleges’ open ground floors, lobbies, and corridors, and optimize spatial design on principles of practicality and economy to create intelligent, distinctive functional spaces. Leveraging AI-empowered education scenarios, they will be deeply integrated with the residential colleges’ future learning centers to build a new smart education ecosystem.

Project Timeline

Stage Date
Application By July 31, 2026
Review and announcement of results By August 15, 2026
Construction Mid-August to late December 2026

Projects will be re-inspected annually thereafter under dynamic management.

Funding Support

Approved projects will receive corresponding funding, disbursed in two batches: the first 60% within one month of approval, and the remaining 40% after project acceptance. Overspending on construction will not be supplemented. Project funds must be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations of the university’s Finance Office, with reimbursement completed within 2026.

How to Apply

Each residential college should complete the “Shantou University Residential College (Community) Construction Project Application Form” and send it to the Residential College Management Section of the Student Affairs Office at o_fdy@stu.edu.cn by July 31, 2026. Applicant units must report truthfully; any falsification, once verified, will result in disqualification. The Student Affairs Office requires the colleges to emphasize publicity during construction, pushing no fewer than four promotional pieces each year, with the university selecting outstanding cases to feature on platforms such as the Ministry of Education’s “one-stop” student community construction cloud platform.
