It is reported that, in response to Typhoon Bavi (this year’s No. 9 typhoon), which brought sustained heavy rainfall and locally extreme rainstorms to Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu, and other areas, Shantou University has paid close attention to affected students. The Student Affairs Office and the Graduate School have jointly launched an emergency relief subsidy program for students who suffered major economic losses, whose immediate family members were injured, or who were otherwise significantly affected by the typhoon and rainstorm disaster.

The university has asked all colleges to reach out to affected students by phone, online, and other means to offer care and to gather information on students’ home addresses, disaster impact, and family financial situations, reporting each case as soon as it is identified.
