It is reported that the Shantou University College of Liberal Arts has launched recruitment of peer mentors for the incoming Class of 2026, inviting applications from its current Class of 2024 and 2025 undergraduates, in order to improve orientation work, help new students adapt to university life, and give full play to peer guidance.

The college has set several requirements for applicants, including firm political conviction, good character, a strong sense of responsibility, warmth, and a willingness to contribute, along with strong teamwork, communication, and coordination skills, patience, resilience, and a willingness to endure hardship while following the college’s arrangements. Selected mentors must arrive on campus three days before the Class of 2026 enrolls to take part in orientation preparation, attend orientation training and check-in volunteer service, and assist the college with new-student education and military training.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contacting new students and providing academic and daily-life guidance
  • Proactively reaching out to and guiding new students after enrollment, and answering their questions about academics and life
  • Keeping track of new students’ thoughts and psychological state to help them adapt, and assisting counselors with new-student education, dormitory visits, and military training

Interested students may scan the code to complete the application questionnaire and join the inquiry group, with applications closing at 24:00 on July 13. After review, the college will notify selected candidates of interviews, with details to follow. Time spent as a peer mentor will count toward personal “i-volunteer” service hours.
