The circulation of this year’s Typhoon No. 10 “Mesak,” combined with severe convective weather, has brought continuous heavy rainfall to Hubei, Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan, and other regions, causing serious flooding. Shantou University is closely monitoring the situation of affected students. The Student Affairs Office and the Graduate School have jointly launched a temporary hardship subsidy program for students impacted by the rainstorms and floods, providing financial assistance to those who have suffered significant economic losses, injuries to immediate family members, or other major adverse effects.

The screening targets students whose families have experienced significant economic losses, injuries to immediate family members, or other major impacts due to the flooding. The assessment covers students’ home addresses, disaster situations, and family financial conditions. Colleges will reach out to affected students by phone and online to offer support and gather relevant information, reporting each case as soon as it is identified.
