According to the “2026 National Graduate Salary Index TOP100” released by the China Salary Index Research Institute, Shantou University ranked 59th nationally, with an average monthly salary exceeding RMB 10,000 for the class of 2025. Among all public universities in Guangdong province, STU ranked 6th.

Three Consecutive Years of Improvement

Data shows STU’s position in this ranking has been steadily improving: 72nd in 2024, 68th in 2025, and now 59th in 2026 — a gain of 9 places from the previous year. The index draws on data from graduates who have been employed for at least one year, covering over 200 industry segments, 300 cities, more than 500,000 enterprises, and over 1 million graduate records. It is calculated using weighted metrics including salary level, employment rate, talent growth rate, and salary growth rate.

Graduate Outcomes

STU graduates have demonstrated strong development outcomes. Among bachelor’s degree recipients, 25.6% secured positions at Fortune Global 500 or China Top 500 enterprises. The overall further study rate exceeded 30%, with some programs surpassing 45%. Over 80% of graduates pursuing domestic further study were admitted to “Double First-Class” universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Overseas destinations included University of Hong Kong, University of Edinburgh, and University of Pennsylvania, all ranked among the QS World Top 200.

In 2026, 21 STU graduates joined the “Western China Program” and 14 joined the “Hundreds and Thousands Project,” serving at the grassroots level.
