"Brush and Ink China" Chinese Calligraphy Competition Launches on Campus
It is reported that the Student Affairs Office, along with CKJ School of Art and Design, Dexin College, and the “Virtue and Art” Network Culture Studio, is hosting the campus selection for the 2026 “Brush and Ink China” Chinese character writing competition under the theme “Carrying Forward the Cultural Legacy, Illuminating China with Classics.”
Categories
The competition features two main categories: Calligraphy Works and Calligraphy Creative Design. Calligraphy Works is divided into hard-tip pen and brush pen, with both university student and teacher groups. Creative Design is open to adults aged 18 and above.
Requirements
Entries must reflect traditional Chinese culture and positive spirit, be newly created in 2026, and completed independently. Hard-tip pen works should not exceed A3 size. Brush pen works require six-foot xuan paper (95cm×180cm) in vertical format without mounting. Creative design entries may use various materials and formats, with one format per entry.
Participants must submit both an image of their work and a calligraphy video showing the creation process.
Schedule
Participants must complete an online knowledge assessment by July 17 at the official competition website, scoring 60 or above to qualify. Works and videos must be submitted to o_ystw@stu.edu.cn by 5:30 PM on July 10.
Awards
First, second, and third prizes will be awarded in both hard-tip and brush pen categories, with outstanding entries recommended for the provincial competition.
