Journalism School and Xingchuan College to Launch First "Reading Salon" on Qiaopi Culture

Event Overview

The Journalism and Communication School & Xingchuan College Joint Party Branch of Characteristic Applied Journalism will host the first session of the “Reading Salon” on June 17 at 14:00 at the East Coast Campus (Building E, 7th Floor, Journalism School Lab Public Reading Space).

Themed “Reading Qiaopi Family Letters, Telling Stories of Home and Country,” the salon will center on the Chaoshan qiaopi-themed film Love Letter to Grandma.

Agenda

  • Film Review and Reflections: Sharing personal impressions and moving moments from the film
  • Exploring the Spirit of Qiaopi Culture: Analyzing the values of family devotion, integrity, and perseverance embodied in Chaoshan qiaopi culture and their contemporary relevance
  • Individual Fate and National Sentiment: Discussing the connection between personal destiny and the nation, and how young people can align personal growth with national development
  • New-Era Qiaoxiang Storytelling: From a journalism perspective, exploring how to use compelling writing and innovative communication to tell qiaoxiang (hometown of overseas Chinese) stories today
