School of Public Health Invites Prof. Wu Zhiming from York University for Academic Seminar
It is reported that the School of Public Health will host its Academic Seminar Series (NO.2026-04) on June 10, featuring Professor Wu Zhiming from York University, Canada, who will deliver a lecture titled “The ‘Social Nature’ of Social Determinants of Health — Taking Social Trust as an Example.”
The seminar is scheduled from 15:00 to 17:30 on June 10 at Wenbei Room 213, with a simultaneous Tencent Meeting session (ID: 216-439-064). The event is primarily intended for graduate students of the School of Public Health, and interested faculty members are also welcome to attend.
Professor Wu Zhiming holds the York Research Chair at York University, Canada. His research focuses on social trust, social capital, and social determinants of health, with a long-standing interest in health inequality and ethnic health disparities. His work has been published in leading journals including PNAS, JAMA Network Open, Social Science & Medicine, and Social Forces, and he serves as a reviewer for American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, American Political Science Review, and PNAS. He received the 2023 Canadian Sociological Association Early Researcher Award, the York University Research Leader Award, and the LA&PS Dean’s Distinguished Research Award. He currently serves on the editorial boards of Chinese Sociological Review and Ethnic and Racial Studies.
