Prof. Mu Jingli from Minjiang University to Deliver Science Salon Lecture on Microplastics and Antibiotic Toxicity
It is reported that the College of Science’s “Science Salon” lecture series will host Professor Mu Jingli from Minjiang University on June 10 at 15:30 in Room C302 of the High-Level Laboratory Building. Prof. Mu will deliver a talk titled “Combined Toxic Effects and Mechanisms of Microplastics and Antibiotics on Marine Fish.”
Professor Mu Jingli is a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Geography and Oceanography, Minjiang University, and has received multiple provincial and ministerial talent awards. He previously served as Deputy Director of the Marine Chemistry Division at the National Marine Environmental Monitoring Center and was a visiting scholar at Duke University. His research focuses on marine pollution control, ecological restoration, fishery environment, and aquatic product quality and safety. He has led over 50 research projects and published more than 80 SCI-indexed papers.
The lecture will use marine medaka as a model organism to systematically examine the acute and chronic toxicity of micro(nano)plastics of different sizes, materials, and modifications, with emphasis on the “cocktail” effect of biodegradable PLA plastics and antibiotics and their underlying mechanisms.
