STU 2026 Graduation Ceremony: Academic Regalia Pickup, Use, and Return

The Resource Management Office has released the arrangements for academic regalia (graduation caps and gowns) for the 2026 graduation ceremony.

Each college must designate a representative to collect the regalia with a signed inventory list (bearing the college seal). Colleges should bring their own boxes and collect only the quantities needed.

Dress Code

The academic gown must be worn as the outermost garment. The hood is worn over the gown, fastened to the second button. A white or light-colored shirt should be worn underneath. Men should wear dark trousers; women may wear dark trousers or plain dark skirts. Dark dress shoes are required for all. Men should wear a tie, and women may wear a bow tie. Before the degree is conferred, the tassel should hang on the right front side of the mortarboard.

Colleges must collect all regalia from graduates and return them as a single unit. A representative must sign the return inventory list after verification by staff. Late returns will be treated as lost and require compensation at the full purchase price. All regalia should be returned clean and neat.

Each college is responsible for managing the regalia during the usage period and should remind graduates to keep them in good condition. Decorative alterations are prohibited. Damage or loss must be compensated at the original purchase price.
