Liaison Office and Science College Visit Foshan for Enterprise Outreach and Alumni Engagement

It is reported that on June 5, the External Liaison Office (Alumni Affairs Office) of Shantou University, together with the Science College, conducted an enterprise outreach, alumni engagement, and university-enterprise visit in Foshan. The delegation included Wang Fengqi (Deputy Party Secretary of the Science College), Lin Yang (Deputy Section Chief of the Liaison Office), Ding Yuan (Deputy Secretary of the Science College Youth League), faculty member Lun Jingsheng (Biology Department), and Zhou Yangyang (Physics Department). Liang Zhibin (Class of 1996, Computer Science), Secretary-General of the Foshan Alumni Association, and Xie Xihui (Class of 2012, Mathematics) accompanied the delegation throughout the visit.

Visit to Guangdong Broadcasting Network Foshan Branch

The first stop was the Foshan branch of Guangdong Broadcasting and Television Network Co., Ltd. Feng Zhibin (Class of 1992, Physics), General Manager of the Government and Enterprise Department, introduced the company’s development, core business segments, technological innovations, and talent needs. The two sides discussed targeted graduate recruitment, local internship opportunities for current students, and program-to-industry alignment, laying the groundwork for Foshan-origin STU students to return for employment.

Survey of Red Bull Guangdong Production Base

The team then visited Red Bull Vitamin Drink Co., Ltd. in Guangdong. Through a symposium and workshop tour, the delegation gained an up-close understanding of intelligent production lines and standardized operations in the FMCG industry.

Yang Jun (Class of 1992, Biology), Deputy General Manager of the Red Bull Guangdong base and a deputy to the Sanshui District People’s Congress, discussed joint talent cultivation, internship base construction, industry-academia innovation cooperation, and graduate employment channels, helping the Science College refine its curriculum and improve students’ job readiness.

Visit to Tsingtao Beer Sanshui

The final stop was Tsingtao Beer (Sanshui) Co., Ltd. Senior Business Manager Yang Yongqi (Class of 2001, Biology), a recipient of Foshan’s Outstanding High-Skilled Talent award, led a team that received the “National Worker Pioneer” honor in 2024. The delegation learned about the company’s century-long heritage and industrial strategy, and the two sides held practical discussions.

Connecting on 45th Anniversary Alumni Gift

This year marks the 45th anniversary of Shantou University’s founding. The Foshan Alumni Association is creating a ceramic artwork titled “Setting Sail Across the Sea” as a gift to the university. The piece is designed and crafted primarily by Wang Rongmao (Class of 1990, Art Design), a senior-level arts and crafts master and Guangdong Provincial Ceramic Art Master who serves as an advisor to the Foshan Alumni Association.

During the visit, Lin Yang traveled to the Wang Rongmao Art Museum (an industry-academia internship base of STU’s Cheung Kong School of Art and Design) to meet with Wang Rongmao and other alumni, conveying the appreciation of Liaison Office Director Huang Yixiong for the Foshan alumni’s longstanding support. The ceramic artwork is currently in steady progress.
