Letter to All S&T Workers at Shantou University
May 30 marks the 10th National Science and Technology Workers’ Day. On that day, the Shantou University Association for Science and Technology released an open letter to all S&T workers at the university, extending holiday greetings to faculty, researchers, and students, and summarizing the university’s progress in S&T innovation over the past year.
S&T Innovation Achievements Over the Past Year
It is reported that over the past year, the university has maintained a steady upward trend in S&T innovation, focusing on the goals of building a high-level university and high-level disciplines. Key achievements include:
Discipline Development: Agricultural Sciences newly entered the ESI global top 1% ranking. The university now has 15 disciplines in the ESI global top 1%, ranking 40th among domestic universities and 6th among provincial universities.
Research Platform Construction: The university obtained approval for 7 new provincial and municipal research platforms, as detailed below:

Research Outcomes: The university received 1 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2024 as the primary completing unit.

The open letter noted that China is currently in a critical period of launching the 15th Five-Year Plan and advancing the building of a strong S&T nation. The Association for Science and Technology expressed hope that all S&T workers at the university would remain committed to serving the nation through science and technology, and continue to make contributions in basic research, key technology breakthroughs, achievement transformation, and social services.
