Prof. Wang Zhongbo's Team Joins "Tongji" East China Sea Joint Scientific Cruise

Overview

From May 11 to 20, 2026, PhD students Qiao P. and Liu H. from Prof. Wang Zhongbo’s team at the College of Science participated in the MEET2026 joint scientific cruise. The expedition was co-organized by Tongji University’s State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology and Xiamen University’s State Key Laboratory of Marine Biogeochemistry.

Cruise Details

Carried out aboard Tongji University’s research vessel “Tongji,” the cruise reached a maximum depth of 5,100 meters. The team successfully collected surface and columnar geological samples along with in-situ ocean circulation, biological, and chemical process data. The findings will support research on cross-sphere material exchange, biogeochemical cycles, and national seafloor observatory projects.
