Abstract
The lecture examines the phenological calendar origins of “time appearances” (时见) in Wenxin Diaolong • Wuse. It explores how phenology became a representation of time in early Chinese consciousness, traces the semantic shift of “wuse” (物色) from sacrificial animal coat colors to natural forms and colors, and elucidates the correspondence between the four seasons and phenology as the core of “time appearances,” restoring the original relationship between phenology and literature.
