STU Forwards 2026 Call for the "Building an Independent Knowledge System for Chinese Philosophy and Social Sciences" Research Program

Notice Summary

The 2026 Guangdong Philosophy and Social Sciences special research call on building an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences has officially opened. STU is forwarding the notice to relevant units, and interested faculty should complete the application according to the requirements.

This year’s call places priority on research in sociology and journalism and communication, supporting projects that contribute to the construction of an independent knowledge system.

Application Method

All applications must be submitted online through the Guangdong Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Project Management Platform, under the Project Application System (www.gdppssp.com.cn). Applicants must upload the Application Form and Argumentation Outline as required. The version number of the printed paper materials must match the version approved in the system.

Applicants should first register an account in the management platform and email o_wkb@stu.edu.cn for review. Those with existing accounts do not need to register again.

Timeline

  • After 9:00 AM, May 29: Download the Application Form and Argumentation Outline from the platform
  • By June 12: Upload the Application Form and Argumentation Outline to the system for formal review
  • By June 23: Submit the printed, university-approved materials to the Research Office
  • By 12:00 PM, June 24: Provincial system submission deadline
  • 5:00 PM, June 25: Unit review deadline
  • June 26: Deadline for paper material mailing/submission

Paper Submission Requirements

  • 2 copies of the Application Form
  • 5 copies of the Argumentation Outline
  • All copies must be printed on A3 paper, double-sided, and saddle-stitched
  • One Application Form copy and all five outline copies should be placed inside the first Application Form copy
  • Version numbers must match the approved system version

After the project list is announced, approved projects must upload a signed and stamped PDF scan of the Application Form to the system. Applicants should keep and scan their materials in advance.

Research Directions

Sociology

Topics include urban cluster governance in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, labor sociology in the smart economy, local experience in grassroots governance, county-level urban-rural integration, megacity governance, and social structure transformation in the digital-intelligence era.

Journalism and Communication

Topics include Guangdong practice in cultural external communication, communication practice under the One Country, Two Systems framework, transformation of mainstream media, collaborative knowledge production, integrated journalism, and AI-era journalism innovation.

Outputs and Duration

Expected outputs may be research reports, journal papers, and monographs, singly or in combination. The project duration is 3 years, with early completion available upon application. Final materials must be submitted by August 31, 2029.
