SpeakerProf Hendrik C. Swart (Dept. of Physics, UFS)

Prof Swart is a senior professor and B1 NRF-rated researcher who introduced luminescent materials research to South Africa. He has published over 990 journal papers with an H-index of 80, ranking 7th worldwide in the Phosphors discipline (Lifetime). His research focuses on luminescent materials for displays, solar cells, solid-state lighting, dosimetry, and thermometry.

SpeakerProf J.J. Terblans (Dept. of Physics, UFS)

Prof Terblans is Head of the Physics Department and Director of the Centre for Microscopy at UFS (NRF C1-rated). His research focuses on solid-state physics, thin films, diffusion, segregation, and advanced materials characterization using XPS, AES, SEM, TEM, and ToF-SIMS. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications.
