Engineering College and Jingyi College Host Veterans Sharing Session

Overview

On May 20, the College of Engineering and Jingyi College held the Spring 2026 Veterans Student Sharing Session at the National Defense Education Studio, Room 102, Building C, Jingyi College, Sangpushan Campus. Student Xie Z., a 2023 Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation major, delivered the keynote talk, hosted by faculty advisor Zhang Xin.

Military Experience

Student Xie enlisted in March 2024 and served in the Shandong Army before retiring in March 2026. He shared his enlistment motivation, boot camp training, and reconnaissance soldier experiences. Despite repeated elbow injuries from crawling drills on gravel, he persisted and ultimately achieved third place in a military competition.

Recruitment Policy Overview

Student Xie explained the full recruitment process for college students, including online registration, medical examinations, political assessment, and pre-service training. Drawing from his own vision correction experience, he advised students on physical preparation. He also highlighted benefits for graduates, including better post assignments, officer candidate opportunities, tuition compensation, postgraduate exam bonus points, and priority hiring by state-owned enterprises.

Significance

The session offered a peer perspective on military life, helping students understand the enlistment process and strengthening their awareness of national defense responsibilities.
