Overview

On May 20, 2026, the School of Arts and Siyuan College hosted a graduate admissions experience sharing session for the Foreign Languages Department. Over 20 students from the 2022 cohort shared their experiences with guaranteed admission (baoyan), postgraduate entrance exams (kaoyan), and overseas applications. The event featured both in-person and online participation, with Vice Dean Guan Zongchang and Department Chair Wen Bing in attendance.

Highlights

Vice Dean Guan congratulated the admitted students and analyzed the current landscape of postgraduate exams, encouraging younger students to clarify their goals and prepare with confidence. A certificate ceremony was held to honor the successful applicants.

Experience Sharing

Twenty English-major and four Spanish-major students (online) shared across three tracks:

  • Guaranteed admission: Qualification requirements, school selection, research and competitions, interview tips, timeline management, and mindset
  • Postgraduate exams: School selection, cross-disciplinary exam strategies, major choice, and psychological preparation
  • Overseas applications: Personal statement writing, school selection, and application procedures

Key Messages

Department Chair Wen Bing summarized three qualities of successful applicants: mastery of knowledge synthesis, time management, and emotional regulation. He encouraged students to “turn what you like into what you love, and take what you love to the extreme.”
