About the Speaker
Marco Visconti is a seasoned Italian architect. He graduated from Politecnico di Torino in Civil Engineering (1982), earned a Master of Architecture from UCLA (1989), and completed his Architecture degree at the University of Genoa (1993). He collaborated with Pritzker Prize laureate Renzo Piano (1984–1986), led the architecture team at Fiatengineering (1987–2006), and founded MVarchitects in Turin in 2007, focusing on architecture and sustainable development. His work has received international recognition and been featured in prominent architecture magazines. His core design philosophy centers on harmonizing human needs, the built environment, and the natural environment.
Lecture Overview
Visconti will present a range of projects spanning industrial, commercial, and campus buildings, exploring the relationship between sustainability, human experience, and cultural context. Through an integrated design approach, he examines how architecture can address environmental challenges while creating meaningful, emotionally resonant spaces. The lecture proposes that architecture is not merely a technical response to ecological issues, but a human-centered discipline capable of shaping place identity and creating long-term cultural value.
Audience
Faculty, graduate students, and senior undergraduates from the Department of Civil and Smart Construction Engineering are especially encouraged to attend. All interested faculty and students university-wide are welcome.
