Business School Original Play "Qiaoxin Amidst the Flames" Premieres to Acclaim
Play Premiere
On May 17, 2026, STU Business School students premiered their original play “Qiaoxin Amidst the Flames” (烽烟侨心) on campus. Drawing from true stories of overseas Chinese supporting their homeland during wartime, the play portrays expatriates in Southeast Asia who chose national duty over personal safety, using remittance letters (qiaopi) to send both money and messages of solidarity, upholding the pledge: “As long as we stand, the letters stand; as long as the letters stand, the nation stands.”
Student-Led Production
The play was written by Sun R., a 2025 Business Administration student, and performed by Business School student actors. The cast and crew worked collaboratively to refine the script, staging, costumes, and every detail to authentically recreate the wartime era and the distinct character of the Chaoshan overseas Chinese community.
Innovative Ideological Education
By replacing traditional didactic approaches with vivid local historical storytelling, “Qiaoxin Amidst the Flames” represents a fresh approach to ideological education. It demonstrates how students can apply their academic skills to creative arts and cultural heritage preservation. The team plans to further polish the production and organize additional performances and outreach events.
