During National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Month, Zhicheng College and the College of Science are jointly hosting the 7th edition of the “Film and Ideology” series, themed “Earthquake Safety, Safeguarding Growth.” The event commemorates the May 12 Wenchuan earthquake and responds to recent seismic events with practical safety education through three activities: DIY peace sachets, a disaster-themed film screening, and group discussion.

Schedule

  • Theme: Guard Safety Through Disaster Prevention, Empower Growth Through Film
  • Date: Saturday, May 23
  • Location: Room E104, East Coast Campus

Part 1: Peace Sachet DIY (6:00–7:00 PM)

Using natural herbal ingredients such as agarwood, rose, lavender, and lemongrass, participants will grind, blend, and fill persimmon-shaped sachets symbolizing peace and well-being — combining traditional craftsmanship with safety awareness.

Part 2: Film Screening & Discussion (7:00–9:30 PM)

A curated disaster and rescue film will be screened to teach earthquake preparedness, emergency response, and mutual aid through compelling storytelling. Candidate films include The Peak, Shock Wave 2, The Wandering Earth, The Rescue, and Aftershock.

After the screening, participants will discuss topics such as “What to do when an earthquake strikes,” “Earthquake safety on campus,” and “Youth responsibility in disaster prevention.”
