STU Faculty Members Win Top Honors in City Go Tournaments
It is reported that two faculty members of Shantou University achieved outstanding results in recent Go tournaments held in Shantou City.
6th Shantou Go Celebrity Tournament
From July 5 to 6, 2014, the Shantou Municipal Directly Affiliated Organs Working Committee, Shantou Sports Bureau, and Shantou Go Association jointly organized the “Tai En Kang Cup” 6th Shantou Go Celebrity Tournament. Professor Zhu Wei’an from the School of Science of Shantou University participated in the competition and, with excellent skill and steady performance, ultimately won first place.
“Shibiao Cup” Go Tournament
From October 18 to 19, 2014, the Shantou Education Bureau, Shantou Sports Bureau, and Shantou Go Association co-hosted the “Shibiao Cup” Go Tournament. Mr. Ji Jie from the university’s Network Center competed against numerous strong opponents and won the championship in Group A (for associate senior title and above, as well as school principals and vice-principals), earning the national amateur Go 5-dan rank.
